SCORE (Sustainability Competency & Opportunity Rating & Evaluation) is an easy-to-use assessment tool that rates sustainability practices. It helps organizations understand where they are now and what practices they can implement to move further along on the sustainability path. SCORE includes nearly 100 criteria/practices in various organizational functional areas. This makes it easy to assign responsibility and helps people in diverse departments understand their part in the larger plan.

Developed by AXIS Performance Consulting in conjunction with the Zero Waste Alliance and the International Sustainable Development Foundation, SCORE is an excellent tool for measuring your progress in relation to other organizations.

The Natural Step, founded in Sweden in 1988, is an international non-profit, research, education and advisory organization that uses a science-based framework to help organizations, individuals and communities lead the transition to an ecologically, socially and economically sustainable future. This framework, combining systems thinking and practical business decision-making, has been successfully utilized in businesses and organizations, such as IKEA, Interface, UT-Houston Health Sciences Center, Scandic Hotels, Collins-Pine, and various municipalities.

The Natural Step (TNS) framework is a foundational component of the ReSourcing Model, as Jane has participated in many Natural Step trainings, as well as having facilitated TNS workshops.
